SOUND SHAPE FINAL

This is my final sound shape that basically is the same creature that I made time ago, but with a few changes, I finally decide to stay with this shape because I think is cool have personality and also I can manipulated and goes well with the sound I chose.
To find the right sound I went to have a look to the new libraries of the new version of minim “Ugens” but I realized that still doesn’t work very well with the 1.5 version of processing, so I used the 1.2.1 vernon that works perfect, I tried to add AudiPlayer to add my own sounds on top of this but I couldn’t .
by using the arrow keys you can change its opacity, color and speed, been the yellow color and low the best way how this ghost looks.
If you go to the left of the canvas is where the wind is stronger and the ghost gets vibrations in its sort of tentacles.. also to give it the looks that is a bad weather there are like lightnings in the background.

development

Here are two of advances of my new shape, one of them (first link) I starter to use this sine wave connected to the mouse, so wherever the creature goes makes different sounds, i like how its works but the sounds gets irritated after a few seconds.

In the second one I start trying with audio player so I can trigger my own sounds, two of them I made them (down and right arrow key) with audacity, using my own voice and effects. still I like the idea of have a sound that goes with the creature and give it a more appropriate sound, and ghosty sort of felling.

progress...

after a chat with steven I decided to choose the rubber band sketch from the storyboard and see how far I can go whit this...

After a few attempts with this idea I decided to maybe try with one of my other drawings and see what can I do with it, I change it for those kind of worms and that kind of creature.

PROJECT 3 SOUND SHAPE

My initials ideas that at the left of the storyboard were like building sounds with different shapes, like tetris with sound. the next drawing represents a more biological idea of a sound shape, still with not a clear idea of how is join to sound like, but at lease the shapes looks more like something organic, the top one are like amebas that when crash creates a new sound, the one below is are some kind of worms that probably can do different sounds  depending of how they move..
the next two at the right are like a plate that allows make your own sound by pushing it, making your own shapes and sound, depending too of how depth these are.

The last one at the right is a kind of rubber that by twist it makes difference sounds or change the frequency.

Project 2: Final

http://www.openprocessing.org/visuals/?visualID=36110

When you move the ball slowly its give it the form like a ghosty worm,  If you move it fast starts losing the shape that is leaving behind, but at the same time a different and interesting flashing sensation of how the balls popping up and disappearing, by clicking the mouse button you can see the bright yellow color that correspond to the center of the ball and also a easy way to track the way of the worm of the shadows that is levying behind, and see clearly what is drawn.

PROJECT2: Interactive Mouse Toy

Im not quiet done with this project yet, but this is the most liked me. I think have a bit of my earlier attempts, by using easing I gave this shadows to the ball that are always following it in a random flashing giving it also the sensation of movement like a rainbow spring toy. I still have to work with the colors, background and probably something else.
I found quiet interesting to draw with this ball and see how the shadow is following it, also by pressing the mouse button  is possible to see the track of the ball that is leaving behind and see clearly what is drawn. (could move slower that it is because the other applets are working too i guess...)

Thinking in the idea of pulling an object to make it change color or do things I started to think in make it more interesting than a simple ball, I thought that an octopus form can be good for traveling thru the canvas... and maybe after that can interact with other objects, colors or something else... I  finally found if I want to do that I would need more knowledge that I have and could finish in a not so good result. Anyway I like how this one looks like, I started playing with different numbers, mouseX and new stuff for me, applying it to a bezier, and changing the values for each one.

This is my second precedent.. it catch my eye because of the nice way of the movements, how its reacts with the food, following it everywhere it is, and specially how the tentacles are moving and all behind the main “head” part of this creature. I got some ideas from this one.

PROJECT2: Interactive Mouse Toy

When I first heard about the second project about, this application/music game came to my mine, I found this is a good example about interactivity, obviously is hard to make something like this at this stage, but i thought could be a good source of ideas for my project...

By using the idea of making sound i created this, obviously is a very basic idea of what I was trying to do, but at the same time not really sure to keep going, because was really complicated to me to include sound, and also I knew that the next project will be sound... so I preferred rather that continue with this idea, change it, but it will influence to my final result.

The ball always is trying to hit the right side of the canvas, with the mouse is possible to pull the ball and control it, as far of the canvas the ball change the color.
